French Teacher Stabbed by Student Exits ICU

(MENAFN) A French educator who suffered multiple stab wounds inflicted by a pupil in the country's southeast has emerged from intensive care after awakening Thursday, though she continues to battle life-threatening injuries.

According to media, Toulon's public prosecutor issued a statement confirming the 60-year-old victim "has regained consciousness" and "has left the intensive care unit."

However, authorities warned her life-threatening condition "has still not been lifted."

The violent assault unfolded February 3 at La Guicharde middle school located in Sanary-sur-Mer, a town within the Var department. The educator sustained four knife wounds during the attack.

A 14-year-old suspect now faces attempted murder charges after completing police custody questioning. Authorities have ordered pretrial detention for the teen, who could receive a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment if convicted.
