Attorney General Ford Announces Grant Opportunity for Youth Cyber Safety Programs

Carson City, NV – Today, Attorney General Aaron D. Ford announced the rollout of the Office of the Attorney General’s Cyber Safety Improvement and Prevention for Youth (CSIPY) Grant Program. The CSIPY grant program — which is authorized and funded under the Roblox consent judgment and settlement agreement entered into earlier this year — will fund programs or services that focus on issues such as reductions in harmful or excessive use of digital technologies; improvements in critical thinking skills; and increased awareness of digital risks.

“I am proud to roll out this grant opportunity to help support the programs and services that have dedicated themselves to keeping our children safe online,” said Attorney General Ford. “As we navigate the ever-changing technological world, we must ensure that our children’s well-being is at the forefront of our minds. Ensuring that our youth grow up digitally responsible and equipped with critical thinking skills is one of the best ways to keep them safe online.”

Eligible programs and services must include one or more of the following objectives:

Promotion of digital literacy, including critical thinking skills and digital citizenship for youth and parents.
Training, education and decision-support tools for youth and parents related to the safe and responsible use of digital technologies and social media.
Public awareness and communication strategies addressing the risks, impacts and harms of digital technology and social media use.
Programs or services designed to reduce youth screen time and encourage engagement in non-digital or offline activities, including recreational, educational, social or community-based opportunities.
Innovative programs or services that promote the physical, mental and social well-being of youth and reduce or limit their use of digital technologies or social media platforms, including by encouraging engagement in non-digital or offline activities.
