This week, John Wayland, Turner Ashby, and Blue Ridge Christian Schools will kick off a new school year. Bridgewater College students will also begin moving into their residences and soon fill the campus.
As you drive through Town–especially at the beginning and end of the school day–please be careful and attentive to the kids and traffic around you. Keep in mind that students will be standing at corners and walking along streets. Buses will make frequent stops, and we as drivers are required to stop for them. College students crossing Dinkel Avenue and College Street at crosswalks have the right of way. School zone speed enforcement will be active at John Wayland and Turner Ashby. Our goal is to give out zero tickets, because that will mean we as a community are doing our part to keep our children safe.

Please note that, with the extension of Turner Ashby Drive to connect to Oakwood Drive, additional school zone signage has been installed in the area. Please use extra caution on this route, as many students cross Turner Ashby Drive while walking to and from school.
Be patient and allow extra time to get where you need to go as our Town settles back into the school year traffic routine.
